The Bokhara (Maroon)

This is one of the most popular and well-known Oriental rug patterns, characterized by an outside border with an inside field containing rows of octagonal medallions or similarly shaped designs.

Originally woven by Turkomans in the area north of what is now Afghanistan, most production of Bokhara-design rugs today is centered around the city of Lahore, Pakistan.
